How to heat and serve meatballs in a Sweet Chili Sauce?

I purchased 3-5lb. bags of frozen (pre-cooked) meatballs to serve at my daughter's birthday party. My question is this: should I thaw the meatballs and heat them up in the sauce on the stove and THEN put them in the chafing dish OR do I let them thaw and heat them up in the sauce in the chafing dish and skip heating them up on the stove?
