Anyone stopping in NYC might be interested to note that over on the Outer Boroughs Board, there has since July been a fusillade of overwhelming praise for a very unusual, casual Bangladeshi restaurant called Mina's, in Sunnyside, Queens. (The substantive posts -- literally hundreds of them -- begin on July 28th (mistakenly labeled Miras) and August 5th.) In a post this morning, Jim Leff states that last night he might have had the best meal of his life there, and that it's gotten to the point where he doesn't eat at any other restaurants!
Please note that the praise, while bordering on the ecstatic, has not been entirely uniform. In the best Chowhound tradition, there have been minority reports of those who have been less than overwhelmed by the food and/or service. In addition, note that apparently no dish at Mina's is ever prepared the same way twice, so that if you're making only one visit there, it won't necessarily be "representative" of anything, and you won't possibly get a "complete" feel for the place (even if you might be wowed).
Please do not continue this thread here (unless, of course, someone knows of a DC equivalent!); use the Outer Boroughs Board for any further discussion of Mina's.
