I lived many years in Honolulu, and can assure you that there is no such thing in local parlance. There IS however, PORTUGUESE sweet bread -- pao dolce [sorry, can't tildefy here] -- which is quite popular.
Is this just a misnomer for that?? And why would it be associated with Hawaii at all, if there are plenty of Portuguese bakeries in the Northeast??
