Need some opinions. What do people consider better eating, hard shell or soft shell? A recent post praised a lobster pound because soft shell lobsters were available. Mable of Mable's in Kennebunkport also told me she prefers soft shells - "much sweeter meat".
I've been going to Maine since age 9 months (over a half a century) and my parents always went in late July or August to get hardshells - the shells molted in early summer were starting to harden for winter. We always found the meat in soft shells to be too mushy and the lobsters to be too watery.
I still prefer hard shells, but am curious what other hardened (or softened) Maine Lobster eaters prefer.
