After a first stop at Oyster Loft ( https://www.chowhound.com/post/happy-... ), I headed north to Lido Lounge @ The Dolphin Bay Resort. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm according to its website though when I asked the hostess at the restaurant reception desk, she did not know.
Seating for happy hour is available in the bar area or outside on the patio.
This was a chilly afternoon, as the fog rolled in and soon obscured the ocean. But I was determined to stay outdoors with a heater to catch some sea air.
Morro Bay oysters on the half shell are $3 each during happy hour. I ordered two. Unlike Oyster Loft's, these turned out to be terrible. When my server checked with me, I decided to be brutally honest. I said that the oysters were shucked badly, that I'd never been served anything with that many stab wounds, severed and then put back together in the shell. I suggested remedial training. Also, the flabby oysters were warm and served on a bed of HOT rock salt. Pretty gross.
I also ordered Market fresh fish tacos, $10 for two. I asked what kind of fish was available today, and was told halibut. The tacos were made with salmon belly, including the skin and scales. Not a problem for me, since I like salmon belly and they tasted pretty good except for the flavorless tortillas. But someone expecting a meaty, white fish might be upset.
Since Lido is reputed to be a fine dining restaurant and prices are high here, these lapses in the kitchen and service were pretty baffling. Other recent experiences here?
