Happy Hour Chaat and Pilsner at Amber India in SF

After my disappointment at the luxemburgerli-less Schoggi chocolates, I stumbled on the happy hour at Amber India a few doors away. Starting at 4pm, a selection of chaat, other appetizers, and discounted beverages are offered in the bar lounge area. The house white and red are made by Frei Brothers and $4 per glass.

I had a draft Pilsner Urquell, $3, and ordered the bhel puri, $5. The bhel puri was presented nicely with small carafes of the tamarind sauce and mint chutney on the side. But it was decidedly soggy without the crispness promised on the menu description, and I wouldn’t order it again. But the two sauces were quite good.
