Feel again that growing need for another one-day round-trip from Boston to your fabulous island for a pastrami fix at either the Second Ave. Deli or Katz's. (There is not a single deli in New England that serves a decent- yet alone a great- pastrami sandwich). Always stop to kibbitz with Mark Federman and load up with his fabulous salmon at Russ&Daughters and then move on to Kosar's for bialys before heading home(stopping, of course, for nourishment in New Haven at Pepe's). But I'm still looking in Manhattan for the form of the good handmade bagel. Have tried a couple of places over the last year or two but would greatly appreciate some strong opinions from Chowhounds.
