Hambar is a new spot in the hotel St Paul. Supposedly has a charcuterie or cured ham theme although I think they only do one of their charcuteries in house. Ambiance is kind of a standard boutique hotel look with music that borders on annoyingly loud. They have jamon iberico bellota which they slice on a meat cutter at 36$ for 2 slices. My question regarding what kind of iberico they had and hand slicing was met with confusion. Waitstaff are pretty clueless when it comes to... Well ham.. Or anything on the menu for that matter. Ordered the pork belly with razor clams and it came out with regular clams. It was edible, but not really what I ordered. The gnocchi, one of their house specialities, was a plate of salt. I can't say my expectations were very high to begin with yet they managed to disappoint. This restaurant is clearly more on the style over substance tourist trap cash grab spectrum and definitely not a market driven / chef driven type joint. Anyone who is remotely into food will definitely be disappointed.
