Guytanno's - Westerly, RI (<10 mins from Misquamicut)

We had two nights at the Pleasant View Inn and wanted great dining. Our first night was Maria's and it was just mediocre; I must say that the scallops signature dish looked amazing and those who had it said it was terrific. But the Pappardelle signature dish tasted like it had been sitting out. The papparadelle were dry and hard but the sauce was good. Shrimp cocktail were large and cold. Service was nice.

Now, onto Guytanno's in Westerly. What an incredible restaurant. So many great choices including their daily specials, we didn't know what to order. I took some photos of some of the dishes and their TAKEOUT menu, which is only partial I think. The fried calamari was delicious served with hot italian cherry peppers. I had an incredible local tomato app that was yummy. Incredible stuffed portobello and my mother had the half order of mussels that she said were delicious. The salad choices were incredible--lots of interesting choices and nice dressings. My only complaint was that they bring the apps at the same time as the salad. The server we had was excellent. IT was a very friendly laid-back atmosphere with an open kitchen and large wrap-around bar. It felt very comfortable there. For entrees, we had Ahi tuna that my sister said was out of this world (pic) and she sent kudos back to the chef via the server; my other sister had the filet mignon and lobster that was cooked beautifully with a delicious demi-glace. I had the Local Bomster Sea Scallops (I'm a sucker for Ritz cracker stuffing) that were cooked nicely although a tiny bit gritty. The server said Bomster is the name of their local fishery that delivers the scallops. My mother had linguini with clams beautifully presented. All entrees were served with fresh veg and a side of pasta, potato, etc. We had the pasta which was served aglio olio style and was large enough to be a meal in itself (keep in mind if you have kids as they could eat it in place of their food). The side pasta was a bit spicy with tons of garlic and red pepper flakes. The kids had the usual chicken fingers and one had the cavatappi pasta with delicious sauce (pic). All in all a very delicious and an unpretentious meal. I took pics of the take out menu, hoping you can enlarge on your screen to be able to read it; sorry if it can't.
