Guelaguetza Reopens as Parada 47

Ziggy41 | Apr 18, 201509:15 AM

Not sure how many here were familiar with Guelaguetza but this used to be my go to bodega/Mexican in Hell's Kitchen until they closed more than a year ago. Yesterday I noticed they finally opened under a different name, and there was David and his lovely wife, and there were tables (5 of them) instead of a deli counter. When it was a bodega, there were a few small tables in the back where I used to eat and watch Dora the Explorer with David's kid. Sometimes the fun episodes, when Diego was around.

Just about the same menu, but not the same competition. Lately, a major influx of Mexican eateries in the area including Choza at Gotham West (much prefer the previous tenant Little Chef) and El Original (Hot place but yelpers not too keen). Otto branch opening soon. I can think of about 10 Mexican joints in the immediate area. So it will be interesting to see how little Parada will fare among all these corporate giants but I'm rooting for this mom and pop. Best burrito in the area if its still the same
