We had a well-prepared and delicious dinner at Guanajuato tonight, and I can vouch for everything bishopsbitter wrote a few days ago. The shrimp was great and the beef enchilada tasted like it had been prepared with fajita meat, not ground beef. I will say that I thought the salsa was a bit flat, like it needed salt or something, but overall we were very pleased with our meal.
Less than a half block down Avenue H on the other side of the street is an excellent ice cream parlor, Michoacana. I don't eat ice cream often, but from now on when i do I'll come here instead of going to one of the chains. They have interesting Mexican ice creams such as dulce de leche and a number of fruit flavors I didn't recognize. My husband had a walnut/banana ice cream which was outstanding. They also have lots of different kinds of paletas, aguas frescas, chocolate dipped frozen bananas, etc. Those paletas looked like they would be fabulous on a hot day.
