In November I had a chance to check out Grover Beach Sourdough for the morning meal. Open for six months at that point by SF Bay Area escapees who also operate The Spoon Trade Restaurant across the street. The bakery has a limited number of seats for eating in. Central Milling bags of organic flour were stacked up as a room divider.
I ordered the Buttermilk biscuit + Bacon gravy, $7, for my brunch and a cheddar sourdough mini loaf to go. The crusty biscuit, reheated properly in the warm baking oven, was deliciously yeasty with satisfying texture. The intense gravy was just the bomb. I stopped myself from eating the whole thing because I had long drive ahead of me and was worried about a food coma, but it was truly hard to stop.
Grover Beach Sourdough is cash only. I was short or I would have grabbed the challah and more. I enjoyed the mini loaf over the next couple days and wished that I had more from here.
