The Grocery tasting menu report

My delay in reporting on my tasting menu experience on Saturday night is not at all a reflection of the meal! I chose the $75 tasting menu which is 6 savory courses, sorbet and dessert with a paired half glass of wine with each course. Everything was fantastic. Three appetizers: Red and golden beet appetizer with a fried goat cheese ravioli, tuna tartar with kirby cucumber and radish salad and potato latke, grilled squid with avocado salad and yuca chips. Appetizers ended with a daily fois gras special that came with brioche toasts and a fig and hazlenut compote. I was hesitant but the chef assured me I would love it and he was right. It was outstanding.
For dinner: black sea bass with tomato cumin cous-cous and lamb with yogurt sauce and a sourdough onion ring. The lamb was served rare and sliced very very thin.
This was followed with lemon lime sorbet and the dessert of choice. My first choice was the greenmarket cobbler of the day, peach blueberry, but they were out so I had the panna cotta which was served with a scoop of cantaloup sorbet and some melon and a small glass of plum wine. The flavors of all these together were a light sweet fruity mix that was just right.

We left happy, stuffed and a little drunk after all that wine. The service was very accomodating to us and we were there was about 3 or more hours! The wines paired very nicely with the meal. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It was a fantastic way to spend a relaxing evening.
