groceries for less in Vallejo (and karaoke)

stopped in Vallejo today to do some exploring before heading up to Napa for work. took the Springs Rd exit and headed East - stopped when I saw the familiar logo of Island Pacific Supermarket - 2110 Springs Rd. Vallejo, 94591. This mini chain has branches in South SF and Union City. Last fall I bought live dungeness crab at the South SF branch for $1.89/lb. A few of today's Vallejo specials were: 12 ears of white corn for $1.00,
15 lbs of watermelon for $1.00, 1 medium/large size Dole pineappe for 89cents, bittermelon for 34cents a pound. Some of the best deals are outside (shaded) in large bins - it's pretty warm in Vallejo - so I think early morning shopping is advised. The quality of the produce is fine but we're not talking Andronico's.
Best of all, Outside the store was a huge inflatable jumping room - full of excited kids. But best of all, they had a 60 inch(?) rear projection screen set up for karaoke and a small line of volunteers ready to give their all. As I was driving away, the sounds of "Like a Virgin" in Tagalog followed me out. I also saw Goshen foods but didn't have time to stop.
