Grille 77 - South Boston

Fort Point | Dec 5, 2002 08:14 AM

The menu for this restaurant is upscale for the area it is in, unfortunately the food is not. A Maryland style crab cake had a mustard sauce on it that was so salty it had to be scraped off and the remaining crab cake left nothing to be desired. The sliced duck on a second appetizer was very good but it was served ice cold and came with a hunk of iceberg (iceburg on the menu) lettuce and a wooden tomato. A filet mignon was nicely done rare but was served with onion rings that seemed like they came out of a can, mashed potatoes that were indistinct and pea pods that were very undercooked. Prices were $7 for the crab, $13 for the duck and $17 for the filet. Only wine and beer available.

The restaurant is new but already seems to be very popular in the neighborhood.
