Thanks to all for recommendations that kept us fed during my daughter's recent trip to fence in Overland Park. We spent all our time at the convention center living on take-out so my comments must be taken in that light. The Jack Stack pork sandwich was okay, the beans were excellent and the burnt-ends sandwich was nothing to write home about but the counter help was very friendly, light years ahead of my typical New York experience. I wish I had more time for a sit-down and those lamb ribs. That night though we went to 40 Sardines which was fantastic. I would return in a heartbeat. The next day I drove to Hayward's for more take-out. Maybe it was because it was a rainy Sunday but they forgot the sauce for a turkey sandwich and the chicken wings tasted boiled with rubbery skin that no sauce could disguise. Again we had better luck with dinner even though it was take-out from Il Trulo on a Saturday night. The black linguine with squid was excellent. Couldn't really give the menu the attention it deserved. After dinner it was lights out and up before the dawn for an early flight home. I hope to return and try all the other great eateries you Kansians (is that right?) offered.
