Great Thai in Fort Lauderdale at Thai Spice

edberliner | Apr 30, 201707:57 AM

Thai Spice was excellent! We have been meaning to try it for a while now but things never worked out until last night. I am sorry that it took so long!! I would rate it as a tie for the best restaurant I've eaten at in Fort Lauderdale, with Casa D' Angelo. We started with calamari that was wonderfully flavored with just a touch of heat. We also tried their steamed dumplings that were also excellent. After a less than stellar diner salad it was on to our main course. My wife ate the whole yellow tail snapper fried and medium heat. All that was left were the bones and the head, she loved it. I tried it, but there was so little left by the time I got around to it that I have no way to judge. I had the chicken basil. Fabulous is how I would describe it. It compared favorably to my all time favorite restaurant in Austin, Sunflower (an unpretentious Vietnamese place in a strip center next to Target with the most amazing food around--I know that's hard to believe but TRUE). The sauce was sweet so if you aren't into sweet then don't get the Chicken Basil. It had a slight anise taste from the basil and the chicken was tender and flavorful. I would eat it again this morning if I could. We aren't desert eaters so we passed but left satisfied. As Arnold said, "I'll be back!"
