Hit Cafe Manhattan (on the west side of Hanley just north of Wydown in Clayton) twice during my weekend visit. They make my favorite St. Louis-style pizza for years now. First visit had the combo with an Italian salad with a personal pizza ($10.75?) and second had a 12-inch, both with sausage. Delicious. Crispy, very thin crust, good cheese and sauce, sausage are meaty and tasty (I usually prefer pepperoni). Service always good there.
Used to go to Frank & Helen's for decades. Went there a few months ago and it was crowded and hectic. Ordered the second-thinnest crust, and should have gone for the thinnest. OK, but not great. Salad mostly chunks of iceberg and not nearly as good and interesting (cheese, slivered onion) as CM.
We reminisced about Nino's, a place of my youth on the south side of Olive in a strip mall somewhere west of the Inner Belt (which didn't exist yet) during my youth.
Where are your favorites for St. Louis-style pizzas now? [Not interested in neapolitan or other styles -- I can get those here.]
