Just got back from a few days in Vancouver, including an unexpected layover caused by missing a flight due to mechanical problems. As a result, Air Canada put us up at the Delta Pacific Hotel in Richmond. The hotel is just fine (a pleasant surprise!), but we were blown away by the meal we had at Reflections, which is one of their restaurants.
This is an upscale place with imaginative pairings, beautiful presentation, wonderful cooking, and huge portions. My cedar plank-baked salmon (with a cheesy risotto and baby veggies) was moist and generally yummy, and my wife had porcini ravioli (home-made pasta) with a wonderful, light, sundried tomato salsa The baked leek shavings that had been piled on top instantly identified it as an autumn dish. Their white chocolate "soup" dessert is pretty darn wonderful--like a very thin, not overly-sweet pudding.
