Great Pizza Slices at Islip Airport: Scibelli's

Chicago Mike | Jan 7, 2004 03:22 PM

On recent trip to NYC, we flew Southwest and landed way out on Long I. at Islip Airport, instead of our usual flight to La Guardia.

Scibelli's pizza slices made the trip very enjoyable...especially as we make a point of doing a "pizza slice crawl" whenever there's a high density of slice places.

Scibelli's is a mostly takeout place at the Ronkonkoma LIRR train station. Their plain slice folds medium soft. Delicious tangy tomatoes in the sauce. Light grease. Did I mention delicious ? Mild cheese that adhere's well to the dough.

Definitely one of the best plain slices we've had anywhere in Greater NYC.

On the way back we tried the more complex "sausage, pepperoni, and meatball" slice... just too over-loaded with these heavy meats, more like a "sausage and cheese sub"...Our rec: stick with the plain slices or "balanced" extra ingredients.
