Cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant. We were taken there by friends early this summer --reluctantly--because finding decent Mexican food in NJ is impossible--but no longer.
As we walked across the parking lot I was in Mexico--the smells from the kitchen were totally authentic. And the decor, also--bright and gaudy--a silk hanging with Our Lady of Guadalupe hung next to our table on Saturday night, also the kind of music you hear everywhere in Mexico--jukebox music.
Everything is fresh and carefully made--the three available sauces are red, green and mole--all delicious.
The chiles rellenos are super--best I've ever had-- great tamales, fish perfectly cooked. Mt husband loves the pork in green sauce, also the different beef dishes are excellent--one night there was a special of steak stuffed with sausage that a friend raved over.
Love the salads--especially a watercress and nopalito one. The flan is quite unusual--very rich---I could go on--the only meal I've had that wasn't top notch was shrimp that were a little aged--but otherwise everything has been fab.
I believe the workers and chefs are from the Yucatan--everyone there is friendly and polite--and it's never too crowded to get in--even on a Sat. night.
Also--it's BYO--the first night we were there there was a big group with a gallon bottle of tequila on the table--something I've never seen before! They were having a pretty good time.
