A great Mexican food find on Touhy/Lincolnwood

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant is "Wholly Frijoles Mexican Grill". It is located on a depressing looking strip mall featuring a few other mostly carry out places and across the street from a Long John Silvers - but at least off-street parking is available.

But this little place is a true gem. It's BYOB and they do accept credit cards - and the food is very very reasonable and very very very good. We've always been seated in the smaller front room and ended up talking to everyone in the room: re recommendations etc. Most seem to be very friendly regulars.

We have especialy enjoy a combo platter of a Chile Relleno and enchilada (your choice of filling) - and to our surprise - the fish is superb - whether it's the red snapper or anything on the daily special list -which always come with excellent grilled vegetable and rice.

We often order for an appetizer 2-3 a la carte steak taco - which feature generous amounts of really good grilled steak ($1.75 each)

Our only disappointments have been with the lamb entrees which are totally ordinary and which our fellow diners had warned us about...

Service is inconsistent, but mostly okay. If you BYOB - you can have an excellent, generously portioned meal in a pleasant atmosphere for $20-$25 bucks for TWO People. Not Bad for good food.
