lucky someone translated for me when i met great lady #1 at the XI'AN stall in the flushing food court yesterday. i ordered the number two w/lamb($4.95). yow! this is the best soup i have ever had! the chef picks up some dough, she stretches her arms wide and noodles magically appear. then a lot of other ingrediants are added to the soup mix, like some mysterious premade pale yellow and green noodles, lamb, a spoon of hotsauce mix on request and a lot of fresh cilantro. it was cinnamony and just really divine. thanks to hling and others for your thread below as inspiration.
great ladies #2 & #3 were met afterward on the way home at the CORONA HEIGHTS PORK STORE. it was my second visit there and it was lovely chatting with them a bit while they filled phone orders and cooked up my awesome chicken parm sandwich ($7). they are so nice and boy did the store ever smell good. they were making enormous blocks of mozzerella in the back room and that was fun to watch while i waited. yes, i also had a pistachio ice in hand from THE LEMON ICE KING.
onward and back to the train in the rain up 104th street. as i draw near my stomach automatically compeling me--"football on sunday you must stop at LEO'S LATTICINI for a hero." here are found great ladies #4-#8. the three young gals behind the counter who made my hero, mom in back and mama herself in her usual spot at the front table. i opted for the fresh turkey w/ fresh moz, mushrooms and hot peppers. i just added some aged balsamic and dijon mustard at home today and it's great.
so, a big thanks to lotsa great ladies who really made my chow day in queens.
