Great Indian food in Huntsville area: Saffron in Madison

nashnative | Aug 24, 201411:56 AM

I had my third dinner here this weekend. Best Indian food I've had since London. Huge, wonderful dosa, lots of bright fresh sauces, everything home cooked and delicious. My table enjoyed all the appetizers, chicken korma, masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa, tomato peas uthappam, vegetable biryani, and bengan bhurtha --- all ordered in different levels of spiciness, all perfectly prepared. The saucy dishes were served in lovely copper pots with lots of Basmati rice. Sambar was good and plentiful. I'm sorry we didn't have room for dessert because my favorite, Gajar Ka Halwar, is on the menu. On other occasions, I have loved their mango lassi, which I had previously avoided as too sweet, but here, it seems the perfect complement to a spicy entree.

Patronize this little place, and keep it in business. Even if it is in a strip mall in Madison, it is a gem. Once inside, the atmosphere is nice and the service very accommodating. We are told they have applied for a liquor license.
