Just tried the new spot in Chelsea called Emilys thanks to the reviews that were posted here. So very impressed. It was a very intimate room, almost like dinning in someone's dinning room. Went Saturday night and there were only about 4 other tables filled. Service was so very attentive and super friendly. You did not get the feeling the waitress was overwhelmed like at most restaurants you do on a Saturday night. Very casual and relaxing atomosphere.
The food was absolutely outstanding. Went with the BF, whose mother is italian and he has never gotten eggplant that he likes half as much as his mom's. He got the eggplant here and declared that he thought it was better than his mother made, huge compliment. The fried calamari appetiser was just as light and crispy as could be. No heavy greasy batter and a really different sauce it was sitting on. A bit of kick to it. Cooked just right, almost melted in your mouth. I was so impressed with the food, service and the price. Bottle of wine, 2 apps, 2 pasta entrees came to $60,00. Can't beat what a great experience this was. A very nice welcome to the Chelsea neighborhood.
Thanks for all your reviews, would have never experienced this real gem.
