Located on the causeway between Nag Head and Manteo, the deck is not visable from the road, or the road from the deck, so you are right on (well, over) the water without the distraction of traffic. Everything is great from the nibbles (bacon jam, pimento cheese poppers, corn fritters, deviled eggs), sandwiches (the pork BBQ and the grilled Tennessee ham are both fantastic), daily soups (the cold corn soup with jumbo lump crab was unbelievable and last Saturday I got the cold melon soup - refreshing and flavorful), and larger plates (duck breast, steak, seared tuna and shrimp and grits were the choices last Friday night) are all great. A thoughtful wine by the glass list and a great beer selection make this a terrific place to just go hang for awhile with buddies or a great place for a romantic meal with the significant other(s) in your life. The "brine" is not just the closeness to the ocean, but Andrew's great homemade pickles (don't miss the pickled acorn squash if he has any). Much of the menu changes based on season ingredients, so it is always exciting to see what is new, but, thankfully, some things are always there - have to have the pimento poppers. We aren't big fried food eaters, but here we make an exception because Andrew has such a way with the frier - everything is light and crispy. Ashley will be happy to make beverage recommendations to go with whatever you are craving. Don't miss this hidden gem in the Outer Banks if you light good food, friendly professional service and a drop dead gorgeous view. This is not a "lobster tail is free if seated before 5 pm" place - and we are very grateful for it!
