I'm an NYC hound who was just in Vancouver for a few days with my family. I scoured the boards for eating ideas and I have to say, we had some great food. Aside from a poor/mediocre first lunch at Hon's (it couldn't be helped, tho I wanted to avoid it.) everything was delicious. We did sushi at a non-descript sushi place on robson, which was miles better than the sushi I usually get at any non-descript or decent sushi place in NYC. Then we did dim sum at sun sui wah, which was also great. Later, it was dinner at saravannas bhavan, also fab.
We can get great dim sum and sushi and veg indian in NYC (in fact, there's a saravannas bhavan in Manhattan) but my impression was that there is a higher density of it in Vancouver. In fact, I would have to say that, per square mile and if you factor in variety, Vancouver might be the best eating city I have ever been to.
So just wanted to tell you Vancouverites that you are very lucky, tho you probably already know that!
PS. wanted to hit japadog, but just couldn't fit it in our stomachs. gotta leave something for next time, right?
