I've never seen either mentioned on this board, so I'd love to refer everyone to two great places I found this past week. (It was a good week.)
Cheeseburger Cheeseburger in Annapolis, off of Rt 50:
From what I gather, this is a FL-based chain with locations through out the South and a few shops up North, incuding Annapolis and B'more.
The menu has a few different options, but they focus on chesseburgers here (as the name implies.) Patrons can choose from 3 different sizes of cheeseburgers, then select from any of five different cheeses for the burger. There are also about 20 different toppings, ranging from roasted peppers to A-1, and diners are allowed to choose as many from the list as they want.
The buger I selected (jalepeno cheese and bacon, medium well) was fantastic, and I don't think I have ever eaten better onion rings-- very thin and in a crispy batter that wasn't greasy. to top off the meal, they have old fashioned flavored sodas-- chocolate, cherry, or vanilla-- and about 15 different shake flavors.
Jerry's Seafood in Lanham in Landover:
Who would have thought that such a nasty strip mall could house one of the best seafood restaurants that I've been to since moving to the East Cost? I am from the Pacific Northwest and take my fish seriously, but this place really blew me away. The owners began by selling fresh oysters from a truck in the 1970s and expanded into a full service restaurant about 20 years ago.
The menu offers several kinds of fish and shell fish, but Jerry's specializes in the Crab Bomb and crab cakes. Both feature jumbo lump crab and are perfectly seasoned. In addition to the crab cake, I had cream of crab soup. The soup was very rich and velvety with a nice buttery flavor, finished with a huge helping of crab on top of the soup. Excellent. They also offer salads with homemade blue cheese dressing, which was the thickest dressing I have ever seen.
For a simply delicious seafood meal, give Jerry's a shot.
