Great Burger at Biggies Steak House in Raleigh

I've driven past Biggies Steakhouse/The Korner Pocket near Capitol and Durant for years. Last week, I stuck my head in the place to get a takeout menu and give the place the once over. I liked what I saw. They grind their own meat, they serve jumbo wings, not just the tiny wings served most commonly. They also serve ribeyes cut to order and proudly display their meat. Some people like filet minon. Others prefer porterhouse, but I'm a ribeye man. This little spot has peaked my curiosity.

Today, I went in and ordered a cheeseburger combo. I received a juicy burger with a tinge of pink in the middle. It was a very good burger. The bun was buttered and toasted, another good sign. The cheese was fine, not scintillating, probably American, but not overly processed. The toppings were fine as well. The fries were fresh cut which is great. I think they could have spent another minute or two in the fryer, because they were a bit plain.

Lately I've been trying to arrange my life to get to Wimpy's in Durham for lunch, but haven't been able to justify it. The burger at Biggies was a real treat and cool that Wimpy's jones. I wouldn't say this is the best burger in the Triangle, but I would put it in the top 10. Check it out. I'll be onto the wings and other items soon.
