great bbq chicken near Ithaca

Stopped by a little shack off of Highway 79 near Ithaca called Richford's Dairy Treats I believe. Grill was all fired up at 10am already, so obviously I had some chili dogs with my friends for breakfast. Though the reason we'd pulled over was a big smoker on the front parking lot that was pouring out smoke. The guy had about 20 half-chickens that he'd been smoking for over 1 1/2hrs. We nursed our chili dogs as he said the chicken wouldn't be ready for another 1/2 hour (he was judiciously applying a light sauce every 5 minutes or so). This was real quality stuff and worth the wait. Smoked over charcoal & mesquite chips. Easily some of the best bbq'd chicken I've ever had. $4.03 for half a chicken. Didn't really need to eat anything the rest of the ride back to Boston. Oh, ice cream is good too. Lots of good classic flavors. Soft serve was only so-so.
