Great Baguettes-midtown

Petrossian has a cafe/bakery right next door to the restaurant, on 7th Ave between 57th and 58th. While I can't say anything about the food- (except that its expensive), the baguettes are $2.25, and fantastic. Seriously, this is some real french bread. Crispy hard crust, airy interior, enough flavor to eat plain-- I've stopped eating other kinds of bread altogether (braised short rib sandwhich at 4am last night, with my eggs this morning...etc). They bake batches of bread several times a day. If you show up near closing time (I think its 9 on most nights, except sundays- which is 6pm), they will sell remaining baguettes (if there are any- which is rare) at 2-for-1. The cookies are quite good as well.
