Went to the 'new' (opened about 6 months ago) version of the Huong Long asian market this week - why did I wait so long?
GREAT store! A super find for West Seattle-ites, anyone wanting to take a detour on the way home from the airport, etc
It's actually in White Center, on 15th sw &100th, in a new mini mall. The store is VERY clean, with a nice fish counter, great produce, deli counter (1/2 a roast duck for $8.00), and of course a wonderful selection of various asian ingredients both frozen, fresh and staples. I liked especially the good prices -better than Uajimaya by far(I am sure the rent is better!); the scale - large enough for good selection, but reasonable to navigate; and very friendly, helpful staff.
I have lived in the area for several years, and other asian groceries in the area in my experience I would either have a language barrier if I had a question seeking a product, or some of the staff would kind of ignore me for customers from their cultures.
Great experience... after moo-shoo duck, steamed pork buns, a very fresh tilapia (they cleaned and scaled for me) we grilled whole with dill, garlic and lemon, + stir fry pork and greens this week, and a couple of bahn mi's made at home on their wonderful rolls ($. 50 ea.), I am sold! My bill at the store was $26.80, and that was all the main ingredient for most meals this week. Of course, on this trip, I had asian sauces, rice, etc. in the pantry already and didn't need alot of shelf staples. They were there tho, and reasonably priced.
Check it out, or anyone else having visited and have a comment?
