Great Appetizers, have to go back for a full dinner

I have been waiting a while for Embers to open. I go to Boca Park a lot, and honestly am bored with the other restaurants. They're all good in their own way, but I've been hoping for a new place for a while.

Embers took FOREVER to open. I guess they had construction issues, or just took their time to get things right. After my experience Monday night, they got it right.

They had a no publicity opening Monday -- their first day, I think. I popped in, sat on the patio and got a menu. The decor is very nice -- not like your typical chain restaurant in Boca. Even though this is a nice place, I felt comfortable in my typical LV attire -- shorts and a t-shirt.

Their appetizer list was extensive. They have the standard buffalo chicken strips, but looking a little further I found some interesting stuff. I started off with the shrimp tacos, and my wife had something called California Guacamole and Brie Melt. My tacos were not typical. The shrimp are simply grilled, but then topped with a really delicious corn salsa and avocado. They're not spicy, but rather cool and refreshing -- perfect for a hot LV day.

My wife's brie melt was crostini toasts topped with, of course, guacamole and then brie cheese. They also had sun dried tomatoes on top, and a tasty spice mix sprinkled on top. They were good, but not really my thing...but the wife loved them.

We took in MNF there...the place isn't really a sports bar, they have a few HD TV's, but had a really good crowd in the bar. The draft beer is good and cold, and they have a long list of specialty cocktails...the wife had one of those and liked it.

We were there a long time, and finished our night with a really good spinach and crab dip.

We can't wait to go back for a full dinner. If the atmosphere and appetizers are any indication, Embers will turn out to be a 5 star place. We really liked it.
