Finally made it to two Cobble spots I've had "on my list" for I don't know how long and I really want to put Grappa Cafe back on this board. DELICIOUS and beautifully presented food -- grilled vegetable Napoleon especially awesome! -- attentive but unobtrusive service, lovely atmosphere, may well end up being the spot for dinner next later this month when I turn 35 again!

Brawta, on the other hand was a disappointment not due to the perfectly fine food but for the lousy service. Main courses deposited atop uncleared appetizer plates, side courses "forgotten", water/beverages never refilled, nothing we haven't endured before and I would not made an issue of UNTIL we receive our check which lists not only one of the "forgotten" sides but a 17.5% gratuity as well! HELLOOOOOOOO? I accept that the restaurant adds that gratuity on tabs of $35 or more, and have no doubt that policy was inspired by undeserved as well as deserved lousy tips... however, our bill, once corrected, fell dollars short of $35 even when the defensive waitress tried to factor in the tax. The not so happy ending is that for the first time I can remember we actually left an exactly 15% tip "on principle". I think I might have takeout there again if I had a burning urge for Carribean but I doubt I would dine in again.

Say, on that note, any good Carribean chow spots nearby come to mind? Thanks!
