Grapes Galore

rworange | Sep 16, 2011 10:19 AM

Figs may have fizzled this year, but currently there are over a dozen varieties of grapes at Berkeley Bowl.

Saveway has a great grape on sale for 99 cents lb this week. It is a new variety of grape called Pristine. The crunch if fabulous. This site writes
http://www.melissas.com/Products/Prod...

"A new variety of late season seedless green grapes, the Pristine is the result of 20 years of methodical cross-breeding by a grower in Central California. The result is an unusually large grape with good shelf life. This fruit has an altogether unique flavor that starts with a hint of vanilla and finishes with a crisp tart-sweetness, reminiscent of green apples! "

Yeah ... about the green apple finish. I'm not sure about the vanilla, but I really like the flavor.
