Grandma Brown's Baked Beans

pembree | Oct 12, 201308:43 PM     4

I grew up in western NY and when mom didn't have time to make homemade baked beans, the only brand purchased was Grandma Brown's. They were very close in flavor to mom's.

I'm getting back to my roots, so to speak, these days. Haven't purchased a loaf of bread in weeks, have dug out those old cookbooks of yesteryear, and wish I could find mom's recipe for baked beans. Maybe she didn't use a recipe???

The next best thing would be to find a copycat recipe for Grandma Brown's. Can any of you from western or upstate NY assist me in getting that not too sweet bean flavor? If you've ever tried Grandma Brown's and have a recipe that comes close I'd appreciate you sharing it.

I know that food.com has a supposed copycat recipe, but the 9 ingredients in the recipe vs. the 6 on the back of the can don't instill confidence.

Thanks in advance!
