Grand Sweets - new Bengali in Jackson Heights

To start - this is not a Mina! I don't want to get everyone's hopes up too high...

BUT it is a new little Bengali place, with the entrance kind of down an alley on 73rd Street between 37 Ave and Broadway. It is a steam table place, but definitely above par. Their haleem is the best I've had, and their samosas and puris are very nice. The goat biryani is very tender and flavorful, not dry at all - I've had a few dry biryani experiences elsewhere. After dinner, my Bengali beau took an extra order of the biryani home to his mother (whose home cooking is as good as Mina's!) I really like the owners - a nice couple who are always very friendly.

A good spot to have in the hood for takeout or a late-night bite to eat.
