We had a dinner at The Crooked Spoon in Grand Marais this past weekend. We had their mussels in curry sauce for an appetizer. The mussels were a little mealy. The curry sauce was good. The dish was good overall. We tried the onion soup which was very good. The onion soup comes with puff pastry on top. We also tried the scallops with risotto which was very good. The food prices in Grand Marais are pretty high to ridiculous depending upon the restaurant. The prices at the Crooked Spoon were not as high as some of the other places in town.

We had a lunch at The Angry Trout in Grand Marais too. We had a fried pork loin sandwich and a fried lake trout sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good, though the buns would have been better toasted a bit. They were served with potato chips and coleslaw. The chips are thick kettle cooked chips. The coleslaw was good. It had a mild dressing with dried cranberries added into the slaw. The fish sandwich comes with a dill tartar sauce which is very good. The prices at the Angry Trout were fairly high, though not as high as the prices at Chez Jude across the street.

We had a dinner at Sven and Ole's Pizza in Grand Marais. We had a pizza with pepperoni and black olives. The pizza was not very good. It comes out very hot to the table. The sauce was heavy and did not taste very good. The other toppings were basically tasteless. They use "plastic" cheese which was pretty hard and tasteless. The pizza is very expensive there. The bar in the back of Sven and Ole's was nice for drinks. The bartender, Kyle, was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were not very expensive there.
