We went to Grand Cafe on Thurs 8/20 because I read on a blog site that to celebrate Julia's Child birthday & the movie "Julie & Julia" they were selling their Beouf Bourguignon for 1/2 off at $13.50 for lunch & dinner.
They are on Opentable, easy to get reservations. It's in the Theater District, close to Downtown. Pretty loud inside the restaurant.
We got warm bread & salted butter to eat. I thought they bread was just ok, didn't care much for lots of sea salt on the butter.
Found out from the waiter that you need the movie ticket for "Julie & Julia" to get that special price, but the guy asked the cook or someone and they still gave us that special price $13.50.
Hubby got the Cassoulet Maison $27 - he thought it was very rich, but the duck dry. Where's the fat?
I liked my beouf bourguignon $13.50 - Three big chunks of tender beef, zucchini, carrots, button mushrooms, & potatoes in gravy. I like the meat, veggies ate them fine. Gravy was ok.
Hubby got a wine flight - 3 small pours of reds for $15. He enjoyed them.
Was going to get a dessert Crème Brûlée for $10, but we were in a hurry to go so didn't get any. Waiter felt bad or something and gave us some cookies (2 macarons & Madeline) w/ raspberries on the side. I thought they were not very good, not worth the calories.
