Recently I attended a friend's birthday dinner that was cooked over a hardwood fire in the backyard Gradek grill. The photo shows the merguez sausages on the grill and the simmering stock base for the bouillabaisse before the seafood was added.

The fire pit and grill, made of carbon steel, are an impressive sight. Even more so that the fire throws off very little smoke and it was easy to be a bystander. I think this Sonoma County household is living out its Francis Mallmann fantasies. http://www.faena.com/aleph/articles/h...

Gradek Concepts is based in Ukiah (Mendocino County) and has limited distribution in Northern California. My friends bought theirs at Garrett Hardware in Healdsburg.
