I never fail to be impressed by every aspect of the operation of this small-sized store - with its large butchery area in the back - situated a little outside the downtown core at the NW corner of College and Grace.
The other day I needed 15 lbs of eye of the round, a terrific flavoursome and nearly fat-free cut of beef if you know how to cook it (I do) and if you have the knives or a meat slicer to slice it very thin (I don't !)
The friendly butcher quoted me a price for 15 lbs of cleaned meat (taking off any excess fat and the silverskin) AND allowing me to bring the cooked roasts back to be sliced there.
I arrived with the roasts yesterday afernoon, whereupon the nicest lady took them and ascertained the degree of thinness desired. I waited in my car to avoid a ticket - the one disadvantage of their location is crowded to non-existent street parking) - and was about to go in after half an hour when the same individual came onto the street with my pan of sliced meat ! She wouldn't take a penny and bid me a warm good afternoon.
Now that is the sort of place that builds loyalty ! I may add that their prices are extremely reasonable - I think I paid $73 for the whole shebang - roasts, cleaning and cutting.
