We went to Town Hall despite the majority negative reviews on this board. I guess given the buzz around this new place, I wanted to try it for ourselves, even if it wasn't all thumbs up here.
I happy to report we experienced great service and excellent food.
I was feeling under the weather and wanted some vitamin C, so I ordered a lemonade. I asked the bartender to make it hot so I can sooth my throat at the same time. Without batting an eye, the bartender took my cold lemonade ran it through the steamer in the cuppacino maker and gave me a cup of steaming hot lemon drink.
We didn't encounter any firing problems, all of our food arrive in an orderly manner. We mentioned our 8pm symphony engagement and they made sure we were on time.
Food-wise, we enjoyed all of our appetizers and entrees: fried oysters in spinach salad, cream of celeriac soup, barbequed shrimp with brown butter sauce on toast, roasted duck with wild rice and sweet dates, day boat scallop and jumbalya and rabbit three ways.
The desserts were not overly memorable. We ordered upside plum cake and butterscoth and chocolate pot de creme. The cake had too much nutmeg and overpowering spice flvoring, while the pot de creme had good flavor but the consistency was too soft, more like pudding than pot de creme.
Overall we thought the price was a little high for the type of decor and food, but we were not disappointed with the restaurant. We all left with high sprits and intend to return.
