Any good Thai-style fried shrimp? (similar to tempura)

Ernie | Jul 18, 200201:51 PM

My favorite Thai, Thai Heaven in Alhambra, used to have this wonderful appetizer, Thai Fried Shrimp, that was amazing. The very fresh shrimp were absolutely huge and coasted in this ultracrispy rice batter unlike any batter I've ever had. Imagine the most crisp tempura you've tasted, and make it even crisper.
It also came with battered baby corns, brocolli, etc.

Trouble is, they have new owners and the shrimp are pathetically small now and not nearly as fresh tasting. This plate was served with the usual Thai BBQ dipping sauce.

Anyone aware of a place that serves a great version of this dish like this in San Gabriel Vally or near Hollywood area?
