Good and old school.

We tried Reginas in allston the other night. loaded small pizza, cheese pizza meal for the kid, and dh liked his sandwich. Admittedly dh is a fan of this bar atmosphere. Also it was fun to sit next to the trains. But I did enjoy my pizza as a classic example of Anerican pizza. very good from that perspective.
A what are some other dining establishments that are worth checking out from this perspective ? I'm not comparing it to the best pizza I've ever had, and on a regular basis I might not want it often. A great american chinese place, a relatively authentic italian but not touristy place in the north end of elsewhere that's not $$$, anything along these lines. I'm from NE by the way, I think some of what's considered good and old school vs just "old"might be based on childhood preferences.
