ANY good restaurants in Lakeshore/Grand neighborhood?

Hungry in Oakland | Mar 17, 200412:18 PM

Help! I just moved to the East Bay from SF and I am HUNGRY. The restaurants I have tried in my new neighborhood - between Lakeshore and Grand, near the Ace Hardware - have been unbelievably dull at best and, in some cases, downright bad. How can every small neighborhood in SF have amazing Thai, Mexican and Chinese and this large, diverse neighborhood has bupkus? The Mexican is especially wanting. Connie's Cantina? That was the worst burrito I've ever had. The second worst was at The Burrito Shop. And Bangkok Thai was tasteless. (How can Thai food be tastless?) I do like the Lakeshore cafe and some of the appetizers at Meze. But where's a girl to go for a good taco or some tasty Tom Yum Gai? Thanks.
