Good Places to Eat Alone

I'll be visiting Boston for several days and the majority of the time after business hours I will be venturing out on my own.

I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on where one might go for dinner alone and not feel "out of place" so to speak? I'll be staying in the North End area, but I'm open to any and all suggestions within walking distance to this general area. I'm open to bar seating or restaurant seating. Also, are there any good places around the North End to grab a drink and a bite to eat after work?
