When Tatany closed on 27th Street & Third Avenue, I felt the best Japanese restaurant in this area of mostly mediocre restaurants lost a jewel. They reopened on 25th or 26th Street off Third Avenue as a take-out/catering operation with about three stools.
I went there tonight for take-out and saw about 7 tables pushed together against the wall. I asked the cashier if they would be serving food there and he said yes but didn't know when. I didn't see any chairs so maybe they're waiting for delivery?
Tatany is small and doesn't have the comfort or atmosphere of its former restaurant but the sushi and sashimi are as delicious as ever. I would rather eat there than take-out food cause there's no sushi chefs to watch in my apartment. It's just more fun to eat in at a Japanese restaurant.
