Good Mexican grocery in Oakland?

Marc Wallace | Mar 22, 200305:27 PM

I'm looking for a place to buy cheap dried beans of all the basic sorts (black, red, pinto). Most stores average $.8/lb, and only sells 1lb bags... not the way I want to go.

I'm assuming a Mexican grocery would be a good place to start, and that there'd be one in the Fruitvale area... but I've never been down there (gasp!). Besides, it wouldn't hurt to puck up some chorizo, or tortillas, or... ;-)

Any suggestions (Mexican or otherwise) somewhat near downtown Oakland appreciated -- preferably $.5/lb or less, bulk is okay, but quality should be good (not too many pebbles).
