Ate at Shiraz, the Persian restaurant next door to the affiliated Persian grocery store, and dang it was a fine meal. I didn't do the ordering, but I believe what we ordered were:
Mast-o-Khiar -- lebneh-like dish with cucumbers and mint--excellent
Kashk-e-Bademjan -- eggplant with dried yogurt -- a standout. There are several eggplant appetizers, but this one was very complex, with many layers of flavor I couldn't fully identify.
Boorani-e-Spinach -- good warm dish along with the above
Vegetarian dolmeh -- excellently balanced
various kebabs -- the one unimpressive note of the meal. Too dry.
Lamb chops - faaaaantastic. A standout. The gnawing at the bone to get each bite.
Persian vegetable stew--a nice tart contrast to the meat
Saffron ice cream -- wonderful.
Homemade dough to drink -- tart yogurt drink -- very nicely balanced.
We weren't thrilled with the wine selection, and had a mediocre pinot they recommended.
But still -- absolutely an excellent meal. Definitely going back to eat more around the menu. They have also completely revamped the room from dark and heavy to stark white. It's a nice modernization, though I'd like a little more Persian warmth to it.
Then went next door and got dried limes and barberries and the like.
