Went to Beacon for dinner recently following the matinee of Harvey at Studio 54 (excellent show btw).
While my husband and I ordered a la carte, our other two dining companions ordered the three course $35 Prix Fixe dinner, a nice bargain. For starters we enjoyed the Flatbread Pizza, which was fine though not as good as Peasant which also has a wood-fired oven. The Chilled Yellow Tomato Soup with Jalapeno Cilantro Relish was refreshing on a hot summer day.
Our mains were Spring Vegetable Risotto which was rich and perfectly creamy, flavorful Flat Iron Steak Salad with Golden Beats, succulent Maple Brined Pork Chop with Ginger and Red Pepper Chutney, and I had one of the daily special appetizers as my main — Roasted Bone Marrow, which was as unctuous as you would want it to be.
For dessert, our guests had the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Souffle which was a bit mushy though flavorful. Cocktails, especially the Roasted Pineapple Margarita and a well-made Mojito hit the spot. The multi-level dining areas at Beacon are spacious, tables aren't cramped and noise level was low to moderate allowing us the opportunity to chat freely.
